My Idaho at 120 BPM

Being Blue in a Red State

That’s A Wrap

My lift serviced ski season has come to an end here at Mount Bachelor May 22 with Christian and Shayne. Great weekend of camping, skiing and hiking. The crater provided the steepest skiing and conditions were spring like from top to bottom.

We spent some time exploring Smith Rocks Sate Park watching world class climbers on vertical rock walls. These rock walls are carved out of  30 million year old rock formed from volcanic ash deposits over one half mile deep.

The volcanoes of the Cascades are incredible. Behind Christian and Shayne in the photo, the Three Sisters and Broken Top dominate the skyline to the north of Mt. Bachelor. Looking at the rim of Broken Top it is easy to imagine how massive the peak must have been prior to its initial eruption.
